Efficient ICT 2012

The release of the Government’s ICT Strategy and supplementary Government Cloud, Greening Government ICT, End User Device and ICT Capability Strategies signal a renewed priority across government to transform public sector ICT. The policies, designed to deliver better public services for less cost, work towards the consolidation of ICT assets, improving procurement frameworks and increasing the use of shared services.

To achieve this, the Government looks to the development of strong ICT leadership across the public sector in order to deliver:

  • Reductions in waste and project failure
  • A common ICT infrastructure
  • Development of Cloud Computing
  • The use of ICT to deliver changes in service delivery
  • Transformations in procurement through CloudStore
  • Data Centre Consolidation
  • Development of PSN and the role of SMEs in delivering services
  • Standardisation in End User Devices
  • Roll-out of virtualisation and mobile working
  • Re-use and sharing of ICT assets
  • Increase in transparency - Publishing all contracts over £10,000
